Do I need an API key to try Madav?
No. The moment you sign in, Madav Starter gives you free models with zero setup. When you want more power or no daily cap, add your own key — OpenRouter is the easiest: one key unlocks hundreds of models.
Where do my files and keys live?
Your API keys are stored on your device, and calls go directly from your app to your chosen provider. In Collaborate, your files are read locally — Madav is not a cloud drive and never uploads your folders.
What's different about the desktop app?
The desktop app adds the things a browser can't do: a real terminal, local models, full file-system access, native automation and phone control via Telegram. It's included with a subscription.
Can it really run models on my own computer?
Yes — point it at Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp and everything runs locally, completely private. The same app, your hardware, no cloud.
Is the agent stuff safe?
